DONATE & SUPPORT
LEAPS is entirely dependent on donations and fundraisers as we receive no funding from the South African Government.
You can help the paw by donating via the available donation channels or by supporting our fundraising events.

DONATE
As an organization, we rely solely on the generosity of our supporters to carry out our mission. We do not receive any financial support from the South African government, either at the local or central level. Therefore, every single donation we receive, regardless of its size, is crucial to our ability to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.
Whether it's a one-time donation or a recurring contribution, each gift helps us to provide essential services and support to those in need. We are deeply grateful to all of our donors for their kindness and generosity, and we remain committed to using their contributions to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
LEAPS is registered in terms of Section 18A of the Income Tax Act - your donation is tax deductible. Contact info@leaps.co.za for your 18A tax certificate.

A CLOSED BAKKIE
At LEAPS, our mission has always been a journey. Quite literally.
Every week, our field worker drives approximately 250kms between and around the West Coast townships of Lamberts Bay and Elands Bay, and is often called to assist in other areas like Graafwater. She then needs to get pets in need to the vets in Clanwilliam or Vredenburg, adding another 120 to 260kms per trip. We call this the "Drive of Hope." It is the bridge between a life of neglect and the warmth of a safe and loving environment; between a painful untreated injury and the life-saving care of a specialist vet. But today, our bridge is struggling; our dedicated bakkie is literally falling apart.
Our current transport situation is reaching its limit. To keep our promises to the animals of the West Coast in 2026, we urgently need to purchase, or better still, have donated, a dedicated rescue bakkie/van equipped with a secure, ventilated canopy. To date, our current truck has done 324,248 kms.

Why a bakkie/van with a Canopy?
When we were first notified at 9pm about Roxy in Lamberts Bay, we weren't sure she’d make it through the night. She had been hit by a car and left for dead. She was literally covered in blood with a gaping wound on her leg all the way up to her abdomen. She was shivering from shock, and crying out in pain.
In the townships of Lamberts and Elands Bay, there are no specialist veterinary hospitals. To save Roxy, we had to get her to our partner vet in Clanwilliam—immediately.
- Medical Emergencies: When an animal is suffering from severe mange (brandsikte), parvo, distemper, or tick-borne diseases like biliary, they need a safe, easy-to-sanitize space. A canopy allows us to transport sick animals without risking the health of other animals and people.
- The Big Move: We are a foster-based rescue organisation. We don’t have a shelter. That means every animal we rescue must be driven to various destinations including as far as Cape Town, 258kms one way. A truck allows us to transport multiple crates safely, ensuring puppies and kittens are shielded from the wind and sun.
- Breaking the Cycle: We use our vehicle to run sterilisation campaigns. A canopy-fitted truck means we can collect and return 10+ animals in a single trip, drastically increasing our impact on overpopulation.
The Goal: R350 000.00 or the donation of a vehicle would be amazing!
We are looking to raise enough to secure a reliable, second-hand vehicle (like a Toyota Hilux) fitted with a canopy.
Will you help us fuel the next many hundred kms?
Donations of R50 000 or more puts your name (or company logo) on the vehicle as a FTP (“Founding Transport Partner”).
We are registered ito Section 18A: As a registered PBO (930031322), your donation is 100% tax-deductible.
LEAPS EVENTS
Attending fundraising events is a great way to support LEAPS. These events are organised with the purpose of raising money and awareness. Attending fundraising events can be a fun and rewarding way to support LEAPS and make a difference in the lives of animals.

ALPHEN CRAFT MARKET (Constantia, Cape Town)
During the Summer months, we attend the Alphen Craft Market in Constantia, a beautiful high-end market where market-goers can enjoy an array of beautiful stands to shop from, and relax enjoying delicious food. We sell various items at our stall for both pets and people.
We also host adoption days at market when we are fortunate enough to have dogs being fostered in Cape Town. This is an opportunity for animal lovers to adopt a furry friend and give them a loving home.
LEAPS volunteers are on hand to provide information about the adoption process, and to answer any questions potential adopters may have. This initiative not only helps animals find homes, but it also creates awareness about the importance of animal welfare in the community.
Pease follow us on social media to see when we will next be at the market.
LAMBERTS BAY FARMERS MARKET
We also have a stand where we sell products for pets and people, and host adoption days at the Farmers Market at Malkoppan, South of Lamberts Bay about 4 times a year. Please follow us on social media to see when we will next be there.
The LEAPS team is present to provide information about the adoption process, and to answer any questions potential adopters may have. This initiative not only helps animals find homes, but it also creates awareness about the importance of animal welfare in the community.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide a better life for animals in need by ensuring they have a safe, healthy and loving home. We strive to support and empower pet owners, educate the community on responsible pet ownership and provide high-quality care and shelter to animals in need. Our ultimate goal is to create a world where every animal has a loving family that cherishes them and treats them with the care and respect they deserve.
